Q: Do you know of a place to buy Bisquick in Guangzhou ?

I have searched many large supermarkets foreign products section, and a few more jsut selling foreign items at outrageous prices, and have not been able to locate one yet that will carry a 5 pounds box of Bisquick.  I do use it a lot to make muffins for breakfast, and pancakes too.
Please do not tell me to Google it, I have done it already with no satisfactory results.
And I do need a store name, address and phone number, so I can check if carried so I do not waste time and money going there if they do not have it.
This is a very specific question, please refrain from answering if you do not have the information requested.  I will be in Guangzhou next week, and would love to get a few boxes of Bisquick.  Many thanks.

Hi Happy,

I am afraid to tell you that I don't think you will be able to find that in Guangzhou, or any part of China.  The best thing you can do is have someone in the US send you a care package containing that and other items.

The cost, including the shipping, would probably be much less than anything you might be able to find here.

But, when you are in Guangzhou, be sure to stop by my favorite watering hole in Zhujiang New City.  It is called McCaulley's (I think that is how it is spelled).  In any case, they have some of the best western food I have had since coming to China.

Hi Xpat, I was also afraid of that, since one local foreign market (owner has no brains) quit bringing it in even if they sold out within 2 or 3 days each time.  They charged 60 Rmb for the 5 pound box, and in USA is between 3 and 4.  And since US Postal Services stopped parcel post boxes to China, a meaninful box will be close to 100 pounds and cost upwards of $ 150 USD with no sure delivery.  To further the insult, they will not register any deliveries to China, nor will insurance will cover if lost in China, only in USA.
I can make the mix like Bisquick at home, my only problem comes when it is time to add or mix the shortening.  Sometimes do not find lard, sometimes I can not get an even distribution.
Well, I have been depending on charitable friends that will bring me a box at my request, but many when come have full weight allowance on their suitcases with presents.  Patience !
