Q: Do you like KTV?

It's like one of the most common recreational activities here.

I don't like it but I probably go about twice a year because friends want to and it's usually an OK night.

Only if there is alcohol and a decent girl:boy ratio.

And more alcohol.

Only if the dentist is booked up that night.  I'd rather have a root canal than go to KTV.

I enjoy it if I have had a few beers.  But no way could I do it on a regular basis.

With friends and beers, in family-friendly KTV (ie. no rent-a-girlfriend), I liked it... Even if I feel a bit guilty about it Laughing out loud

It's fun if it's with buddies on a crazy night out. But I specifically hate it when we have to entertain business people. They will want to have girls, lots of drinks and act as if they are the most important people around.

A place entirely dedicated to screaming and yelling... in China?

Who wouldn't love that.

I've never been to KTV. If I sing a tune, people will run out…... of China!

So you're pretty 五音不全?  I bet you'd scare them out faster if you tooted the tunes out of your butt!

I eat with chopies in China, but I never farth in public, despite it's very healthy!noYes, probably I'm deaf. I had problems in my early age, when I volunteered for the school's choir. Once! Teacher couldn't get anybody, so he promised 'free/no school day' to all who'll enrol. When he heard my tune by his piano, he told my pops at the dentist repair, I was making fun out of him in front of the whole class. I really wanted free day, but instead I got 'lock-down'..

KTV blows goats and I especially hate it when you have to go out of obligation and some wannabe GEM who thinks she is the dog's bollocks does a 2 hour concert.

icnif77:

'Never mind the bollocks, here are theSex Pistols'. I can't tell you the other title (on my mind), because I wear T-shirt with text 'ARGENTINA' in front. O2, o2

Perhaps some Sex Pistols songs on the system might help me (at least) to like it but I'm just guessing that the locals probably won't be into them that much. The most important lyric is missing in every song. (Let's sing it together) ..........and wo ai niiiiiiiii!

I've never been to a KTV, but I always liked getting street food late at night when all the women came home from massage parlours and KTV. They were nice to look at but almost all were evil b*s.

Like everything, with the right people KTV can be a blast, I've had some awesome KTV nights before.

Also I met my girlfriend at a KTV, we were both invited by mutual friends, so I guess I have a bit of a soft spot for KTV beacuse of that.

It always amazes me how confident and full of themselves the Chinese are. They ALL think they can sing.

KTV is so fun. You can sing, laugh amd drink with your friends. Have a few girls too, why not? After go home with the girls. It is a whole evening of fun in one place.

A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
