Be honest here. How many times were you snookered by your in-laws?
Stupid , don't lend money. Just give any extra you have to me. PM me for my bank account info.
My wives family and extended family are cantonese ie richer than me. So we have a great system of they dont talk aboit money with us and we do the same. They give cash gifts for events and birthdays and buy us dinners when we see them, and we give them cash for spring festival, gifts for birthdays and i pay dinners when other people are there to give her dad face that his son in law treats them well. Then when the people leave he tries to give the money back haha.
I find myself very fortunate.
Don't lend money, especially true in China, you can always wait to get your money back, whether from individuals or companies.
I don't lend money to individuals but I can tell a fact about my previous employer, they had a system or repayment using fapiao, if we needed something for work instead of asking the company to buy it we had to buy it ourselves and give them fapiao to get our money back, even for 10 RMB they always found excuses to delay the repaying and employees ended up getting their money back 6 months later or so, like they didn't have enough, the boss had a new fancy car every 2 months, they probably hoped that we would forget and let it go.
When you owe money to Chinese it's "pay me back here and now (or I kill you)!" but when they owe you money it's "wait! I will pay you in a month! I don't have the money now!" and the same excuse a month later (or any time you ask for your money).
