Q: Do you meet humorous Chinese people?

I have not met a funny person here. I laugh at some things my GF says cause they're cute ''many, many, many.--- I very, very, very busy" I can make them laugh,,, sometimes I have to explain why what I said was funny. I can make people laugh by miming. The way I communicate is with humour, it's not something I think about. I'm sarcastic, I exaggerate, always have some smart ass thing to say, I impersonate. This is what happens when you grow up watching too much Looney Tunes, it rots your brain.

Just once I'd like a girl to come up and say "Is that an iPhone in your pocket or are you glad to see me ?"

Loony tunes!

I just love Daffy Duck, though before 1965 version.

The early Daffy really was daffy!

Your question:

The doctor who gave me my yearly checkup in guilin. He would smoke in the hospital while examining me, with a continuous monolog and an occasional "dong ma?" (do you understand) and when i said no, he would laugh and continue his monolog.

Then, at the end, he would always finish with the same words

"Good new! You still living" . That said, he would pinch my belly and laugh his fanny off...

One of my students, the way he talks, he kind of slurs his words and says exaggerated things. That's when he's speaking English, and it's always funny to me. When he speaks Chinese, I don't know what he's saying, but he just talks normal. I think he likes to joke around in English, maybe it makes him feel less awkward.

Ya gotta remember the whole face thing and lack of confidence comes into play. Chinese people aren't likely to make jokes unless they area very comfortable with your relationship.

I think you don't meet humorous Chinese due to they don't understand what you talk about...

Humor is very cultural. Don't be surprised if foreigners don't always laugh.

Very seldom do I meet a funny local....too much is lost in translation.

What really annoys me is nobody here gets my humor unless they speak very good English.  My gf says her friends think I'm not funny but they don't speak a lick of English...hmmm...wonder why.

Yes Jackie Chan made me laugh all the time but that was through the movie. Never met him in real life but if I did I'm sure he would have funny things to say. hahah!!
