Q: Do you like mooncake?

While I am a lover of many foods and snacks in China,I must admit that mooncake is not very high up on my like list. Not really a fan. Anyone actualy really like them or is it more of a traditional thing to eat them?

I agree...I'm not such a fan either. They're kind of dry and the fillings are interesting tasting. I think it's more of a traditional thing to eat them and give them to friends and family.

Yeah, something like Christmas fruit cake in America.

I only like the high quality ones. Unfortunately they are around 9 - 10 yuan each. I'm eating one right now. Smile

I actually like them.

Well, some of them. I did have the unfortunate time of being given a seafood mooncake which was just vile.

There is one that has pineapple and coconut which is quite nice. Just be aware though that most mooncakes have about 1200 calories, so eating one is the same as eating 2 Mcdonald's Big Macs.

There's nothing like your mid morning cup of Nescafe Instant to help you wash down an intricately packaged Moon Cake........unfortunately. I say "unfortunately" because that experience remains near the top of the list in pleasures!! If only they used crushed walnuts for a filling!! To stick with tradition I purchased a couple not realising that Teacher's Day on Saturday would result in a flood of these little 'delicacies' as gifts. Errrr....ahhhh......yum??

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
