My school provides a nice long lunch break and at first I would just watch movies but now I love how it breaks up your day and you can have a little catch up on sleep - it feels more natural. Can you live without a cat nap or do you do as the chinese (and I) do?
I often have a sleep at the desk in summer when it's hot. But when it's cooler I will catch up with the news on youtube.
I work in an open plan office, and I snore. Oh how they giggle

Probably the single most annoying aspect of Chinese life in the summer. If classes finish at 11.30 and start again at 2.30 then obviously there is a huge time gap. I am Northern European, I work to live. I want to finish work as soon as possible, don't want to prolong the agony. 30-60 minutes should be sufficient for eating and a walk around the block etc. Classes could finish at 4 or so. Thus creating lots of free time for a lazy slow dinner or socializing or hobbies. After explaining thus to my students they just look more vacant than usual. They just want to sleep, loll about and watch TV in the middle of the day which isn't exactly the most constructive use of time.
Just two hours tapping my fingers a day wasting time or the equivalent of one working day lost per week.

Do you ever wander to South EU? Don't let Italians see your post.
Yes, love it. But, before I came to China I lived a long time where siesta is part of life.

Yes I love it. It gets me recharged for the afternoon. I truely need it. I started to nap more when I came to China.
I was into it for a while but nowadays I feel tired all afternoon if i have some lunchtime zzzzs.
I think this custom may be the reason most people go to bed after 2am. They only have to check wechat moments and their classmate group for a couple of hours before they can crash out after a feed.
Never. Not once, ever. I think that activity is for very old people, the infirm or the lazy.
Actually my parents are very old and they don't do it.
Even with the incredible boredom that is life in China I never do that.
If I ever woke up and found I'd descended into that I'd throw myself out the window and consider myself lucky.
