Q: Do you need a holiday from your holiday yet?

Been hitting the sauce hard and it's drying me out and giving me piles. That's twice this year i've started off the new year with a hangover. I need a holiday. How's yours going? Better or worse?

Funny you should mention that, I drank maybe 4 times a year in the US. I'm making myself maybe half a drink each night, picking up some cocktail mixing to resist the boredom of so much time off.

I keep forgetting that I should really leave China during this holiday.

Everything is closed, fireworks until 4am that start up again at 6am, pollution levels through the roof, and of course, the "You just had a week off, let's work 97 days in a row to make up for that".

Chinese holidays are a joke.

I work from home and make up my own hours so it's just another day  for me,

I celebrate Christmas and New Year's not the Chinese New Year.

Holiday's here it's like having a thunderstorm or blizzard back home. You have to make up the days you missed....so it doesn't really feel like a holiday to me at all knowing that you will have to make up the days that you were away from work! I still don't get it! Why call it a holiday?

In may case i have a month of holiday and i didn't go nowhere (it's sucks right?), weather is really crazy leaving us no chance to go outside even for a walk, so i spend most of the time at the kitchen cooking, shopping online watching movies, or training in my living room (push up, pull up, lifting weight... whatever) sleep to late and wake up too late, kind of getting a life like vamper. lol

A:They're saying you should be in China already because entering China is pretty much impossible at the moment due to covid restrictions. This means schools can only recruit from people already in the country. Also, unless you have dual citizenship you probably wouldn't meet the visa requirements to teach (teach English that is, maybe you could teach other subjects, I don't know) in China. They have a native speaker requirement that means only people from certain countries will be accepted. The second point will probably get this post downvoted, any time you mention the native speaker requirement it brings out one or two angry thumbs - they don't seem to understand nobody on this forum makes the rules..... Anyway, my advice to you would be to look elsewhere. Between China's tough visa requirements and their even tougher covid measures it's pretty much impossible to go there now to teach. The good news is that other countries are dropping their covid restrictions and opening up again so there are probably still opportunities available to you. Good luck. -- Stiggs
