Only when i'm eating out. You know how it is, you need all the help you can get.

I can't tell whether or not that's a sex joke. Either way you're one cunning linguist.

A cunning linguist pulling cunning stunts, but when i'm eating in it's the missus who says the prayers. I can hear her every time: "Oh God, oh God, ohhh God!"

Yes, but they don't work - you're always still here when I come back

I always do, at least in my mind.  I believe that every bite is a gift from our Father. If you 're thinking now, "I buy my food with my money", my answer is," Can you eat your money?"  When natural disasters strike & nothing grows on the land, then you put your money where the sun doesn't shine.

:

Also the ability to work, the strength in body and mind to do a right and a great work that earns you the daily bread, it comes from God too. There are people who are stranded to bed for their whole life, depending on the support of others. They cannot work, they cannot earn their own sustain. So the strength to do something comes from the One whom we ought to thank every day, at least. But that's a decision you can make it or ignore it.

I'm upvoting you this once, but only because I'm a religious fanatic. Anyway, I try to, but sometimes forget. I agree with ElenaDob.

:

Don't worry, God won't ever forget you. It's not only people who pray for themselves, it's God also who pray for us.

Nope. I thank the person who cooked it, when appropriate. I figure that has a more immediate, tangible benefit.

Wow people really downvoted this? I thought religious people were supposed to be compassionate.

Always praying and not only before every meal, but before any moment I live. That's a gift from God and my chance to know Him. I try to keep God in my mind all the way out from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed. There's nothing worthier to pay this much attention than God. In everything I do, good or bad I seek to understand the way God judges and decides everything about me and everybody here, there, everywhere, now and then. Life it's the only chance for me to know God. Thanks for asking the question.

The food safety standards here do leave a lot to be desired but praying would be taking paranoia one stage too far!

Some hae meat and canna eat,
   And some wad eat that want it;
But we hae meat, and we can eat,
   And Sae the Lord be thankit.

Robert Burns

However I'm a Secular Humanist, so no I see no reason for prayer.
