Q: Do you sometimes go to IKEA just for the food?

It almost shames me to admit but I have made trips to Ikea in the past just to have a cheap western lunch with unlimited refill coffee. The last time I went it was so crowded though that it put me off going there for a while. I am starting to crave that apple cake, baked salmon and seafood lasagna again...

Yeah I crave the unlimited refills I get to get. But everytime I go there I do eat there and I also go shopping so for me I would say no. I do however eat there all the time whenever I'm there which is usually during dinner time..

Are you asking if I am insane enough to go on a 5 hour (round trip) bus ride just to get some Swedish meatballs in a crowded noisy place. Yes I am, but usually there needs to be a contributing purpose.

The IKEA card from back home, which has my name on it unlike the Chinese ones is always fun to show to the employees. They can't register it with the card readers, but they can still give free coffee on weekdays.

I don't even know where the Ikea is in my town. Maybe I should look it up?

Yes I do. I also did when I lived in Dubai.

Shrimp sandwich, apple cake and Swedish coke. I love it! Reminds me of home.

I never look at furniture, but I also spend time in the food shop buying stuff like the elderflower drink and liquorice.

The food is Dubai is amazing... at least to me. It's just like home, with a twist.

Indeed, with a few exceptions.

The only place with Scandinavian food is Ikea.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to order a ham pizza/sandwich for delivery, because only the fancy/expensive places have 2 kitches, which is required to cook and serve pork. And I love ham pizza and sandwiches.

Ya know I came on this thread to take the p*ss but after seeing you talking about apple cake and baked salmon I'm actually gonna go to Ikea.  Nice one.  Usually if I want a taste of somewhere else I just go to e.g. a Thai restraurant, or German, or whatever.  And yes German for the beer.  Although I actually love sauerkraut too...  But baked salmon...

Yeh, we don't have IKEA here in Nanning. I might leave if we did.

Didn't really want to start a new question on this....so here's a bump for an old one!

But yes, I mainly go there for the food (both in the cafeteria and the small food market).  Good meatballs, refillable coke in the cafe.  Cheap but decent ground coffee in the food market and their chocolate bars are pretty good too!

But it kinda pisses me off when I see some of the local customers leaving their trays at the table after they finish, instead of taking them to the dishwasher like all the really obvious signs tell them to do.  Also get pissed off later when the checkout lanes dedicated for shopping bags only are clogged up with 100% full shopping carts wedging their way forward.  Last but not least, the queue cutters at the food market cash register.  The way it's laid out, they can just come up from behind the clerk and drop their shit in front of the next person (IE, no barriers to corral the sheep into the proper channels).  Luckily I can push their shit right back to them before the clerk starts scanning
