The infrastructure of Beijing is already bursting at the seams. The traffic jams cannot be much worse. There is a major water shortage as well. If the government stopped immigration to Beijing tomorrow, would not the quality of life not deteriorate further. Look at pollution levels and lack of parking before you answer.
Yeh, but revenue would decrease. So what if people are stacked wall to wall, as long as they're spending.
Why?, the more that move to Beijing, the less everywhere else. spent the week end at Fang Cheng Gang bay, on south coast, at Golden Beach nearby. There were maybe 70 persons there, counted 17 in the water. Had a great time, no crowds, no yelling, quite nice and peaceful.
yeah, do move to Beijing !

The hotel room for 3 persons was 148 per night, at Fang Cheng Gang. Room had TV, computer, A/C and 3 double beds, nice bath and western toilet. Near Dong Xing there is a river with rapids down a mountain, 188 per person to ride a raft, a lot of fun but must wear swimming suit, will get totally wet. Seafood restaurants were expensive, from 500 to 1000 for a shrimp and crab dinner, so went with noodles for 7 yuan. Beer at Golden Beach was 10, but a tent, table and 6 years was 30 yuan per day. The only worry was it is very close to the Vietnam border, and a lot of illegals there. police is out in full force at roads checking for them, and the illegals are looking for someone to provide them with money. Also a lot of searches for smuggling, saw one truck caught with opium. Otherwise, a lot of nice views and good time with GF and step daughter.
20 million used to be the population of Canada, send all the excess women here, I got room.
It would certainly be nice if Beijing was less crowded..... of course if there was some sort of population limit in Beijing I have a feeling a lot of foreigners would be first to go.
And if foreigners aren't asked to leave, what kind of tension would that cause amongst the population. You're walking around in Beijing and some guy who wants to bring his family out here so they can find a better job can't.
Also how would you enforce it?
