APPs like wechat QQ. Immigration policies are not perfect but are better than most western countries. China does not open the door for illegals like America for example. China does not treat people from other countries as if they are entitled and have a right to stay in the country. China is  great at hacking and cyber security.

Just been out for a game of pool in a packed pool room and as always it was just me and my friend drinking beer, all the Chinese blokes were drinking tea. That impresses me.

They get to skip the growing pains, multicultural friction and moral/philosophical baggage of being first. They get the tech and economic development of the West, without being blamed for oppression, war, slavery, fascism, racism, classism, environmental destruction, ethnic cleansing, you name it. They seem to bear no responsibility for past wrongdoings; it wasn't them. The government has it good. The people not so much, because that 'baggage' brings rights and education.

The government likes this position so much, they try to get away scot-free with their own pollution, ethnic cleansing, fascism, wage slavery, civil rights abuses, border hostilities, outrageous propaganda, etc.
Things get ugly when people suggest the CCP might be held accountable for its actions. They have all the transparency of a dangerously bloated robber baron.

I'd say China is most advanced at abusing its power to push the boundaries in its favour, no matter the situation. In comparison, the USA has always limited itself by trying to appear accountable to its allies and citizens, and consistent in its dealings.

China broke Communism; even relations with the Soviet Union broke down due to China's self-serving agenda and lack of principals.
China will break consumer capitalism, too. In the long run, long after we are dead, the results may even be favourable, by forcing the world to stop playing this ridiculous Monopoly game that was won by bankers over a century ago. The game's losers have no power to stop the winners from continuing the game, but China's rampant flakiness will spoil their fun, and inevitably turn everyone's focus towards a more sustainable resource management system.

China is the asshat at the game table who will unwittingly motivate everyone to play a better game.

expatlife26:

haha that's a good way to think about it. The asshat who ruins the game for everyone.

Heres hoping for the TNG future where everybody cool is a scientist and lives on a spaceship

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
