Why should the Government do that if almost all Chinese companies do provide health insurance to their workers at no cost to them.  Yes, granted that it does not covers everything, but locals are happy with whatever they have.

rationed care paid for by people who can't use it later, great system, another government is best, save my from myself, and then government says bend over and grab the soap.

The people benefiting from it need to kick in more. And mismanagement of funds needs to come to an end.

retiredinchina:

unions setting up 2 tier pay systems, doctors, junior doctors getting paid lower for a few years to become a senior doctor is England's problem.

The world would be very surprised if governments paid for anybody to become a doctor and increased the supply of doctors. The money saved would more than cover education costs and bring healthcare costs down worldwide. Doctors because of prestige run a mafia protection occupation in most of the world.

Are you kidding?

We are talking about people who go get an IV drip when they caught a cold, who spend weeks in a hospital bed because they feel dizzy.

Any sort if free universal healthcare in China that's not subsidized by one's own work would see its debt levels go through the roof in a year or so.

On the same topic, try to implement a decent unconditional basic income/wealthfare in China, just try and see what happens. Millions will stop working overnight. All those lazy girls and young guys addict to computer games will not lift a finger anymore.
