Family does not make good model for helping child complete personality. Almostly neither father nor mother has enough time to share with their children. Puzzled

If the mother is a house wife, doesn't need to work, of course she can...

What do u expect Chinese women to do? Work full time and take care of family as well?

HugAPanda:

Women around the world do it all the time. I know a lot of single mothers who work full time and raise their children without the help of an ayi or their family. I also know a lot who do have their families to help. One of my students is 26, 3 kids, her husband died in Afghanistan, she goes to work full time and is a part time student. Her mom helps her out, but she also works full time. Are you saying Chinese women are incapable of accomplishing this?

nevermind:

My mom did and she had three kids to worry about, not just one. It's common in the west. It's also the reason why Westerners know how to cook and clean on their own by their teenaged years.

Ohhhh, Sang, touchy subject my friend. My wife does and does it well, we had a housekeepr for the first year but my wife refuses to have help. She can be a bit mean spirited at times but then again she left her career for our son, and rarely does things that doesn't revolve around the boy. She is about to begin again as our son will soon start grade K. So the answer to your question is yes, if they really want to they can. Wenna, typical response by a Western Girl LOL.

Well you know how many poor factory workers handle this situation? They tie their toddlers up in a room until they get back from their shift at the factory because they can't afford chldcare and probably live hundreds of miles from home...known fact. Read this article if you don't believe me:

well I am sure they would have to learn if they had no other choice..but most of the time they have their MIL..and it's just easier to let her handle, right?
I have an 8month old child, live with my (chinese) husband and the in-laws but I still manage to do everything for my child when i am not at work. These women are not used to doing that and therefore they're scared of taking care of their own children. For instance we had family over for dinner tonight: My husband's cousin, her wife with a 3yr old boy+inlaws. The child wakes up from a nap and he's wet. Mom starts screeming calling for MIL's help. As soon as help arrives she just goes back to the table and sits to finish her after dinner snack..
and I have seen many more like these...so my answer is that I see a lot of spoiled little princesses around me..

blah:

when you work, who does look after your child?

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
