Seeing another laowai in my day to day life is few and far between. So I've just accepted it as my second Chinese name. It sure as hell isn't the worst thing I've been called, so why worry about it.

it means "foreigner", just a more casual word than "wai guo ren".

It ain't offensive.

Lao ban, lao shi, lao ma, lao ba - none of these are offensive, they're all respected titles.
