Q: Do you think there's too much advertising here?
People rarely say anything on this but I think the advertising is proper full on in China. When I watch TV the adverts last for a really long time (so much more than what I am used to in England) not only are they long they are also more frequent. The same applies for HK TV also. When it comes to sport on TV the same advert plays in the same order all the time, it's almost like some kind of torture.
Product placements are also all over the place (even in the news), Nothing wrong with product placements but I just feel they are pushing it to a point where it's out of bad taste.
In truth, I know why they are doing it, these heavy advertisements want to push as far as they can so that their product is literally implanted on their brain.
I just wonder if people out there feel it's gone too far.
I agree that advertising here is way over the top compared to the UK and they get away with so much more bullshit and exaggeration. At least the UK has the advertising standards authority that tries to clamp down on false claims.
I think the Chinese public are also getting fed-up with product placement in TV series & films. I've read that in the latest Independence Day movie (think it's this one) that Chinese audiences groaned at the blatant product placements
Yeah that was the same in Iron Man 3 (the crowd laughed when they saw the milk carton on a desk. It was the biggest laugh in the cinema.
Also some of these adverts are just promoting for the sake of it.
I remember an advert for Coca Cola once where a dad was sitting at his desk at home looking sad and miserable, his wife comes up to him to give some affection but he's not interested, then his son comes up to him with a drawing but the dad is still miserable, the wife brings in a bottle of Coke and all of a sudden he is happy and full of life.
No real thought of the meaning, just promote it and that's it
Amazing thing is Ad's have been as common as water in the toilet. When taking a pee, you never stop to think about the water, you're just focusing on your business which is well to pee straight and aim well. Same with apps or websites, I just focus on my needs and I totally never know Ad's are there, I have totally forgot them. It's a good habit. BTW pickup the seat!
Yeah it does look like theres a lot of ads out there, but thankfully most of them go right over my head. And that's a good thing. A lot easier to stay focused on your own life and goals when you aren't getting messages from advertisers all the time.
I do not like ads ... but it seems to me, that a one hour tv show from the USA is over and done with in 50 minutes here. satellite TV, is what I watch. Seems to me they cut out 10 minutes of ads, or maybe 10 minutes of the show........ I think ads, but then they give you 10 minutes to get more popcorn and pop before the next extravaganza.
propanga my friend, they need the flock to follow and obey, they also convince them to give their money back some how through advertisement
thousands of businesses trace back to the central goverment and its righteous leaders.
