Q: Do you like when shop assistants follow you everywhere?

and comment on all the clothes you look at or suggest that this particular piece would look good on you?

Hi blunt,

No, you don't have to respond to her comments. * YOU are the customer. * YOU are in charge. That's the mindset that you need to have! ** Just ignore her.

It's actually quite nice sometimes if a good song is playing I sort of stop rub my shoulder a little and dance with her. That's if I'm in the mood I start to show my moves and I get all into the help as I have them carry my clothes around while I go shopping for other clothes and give them the shoulder shrug. It's quite fun actually! Take advantage of it...they are there to help!

No, I don't. I think in that case, one just needs to talk to a shop/store manager and voice the complaint. Some Asians are quite pushy..especially females..it's really annoying. :( I speak from personal experience like many others! :(

It actually makes me less likely to buy something. They think it's good service but it's really just distracting for me.

chenhan:

I usually do the same,i like to choose the ones i am really interested in rather than what the assistants want me to buy.And i really hate being followed.

Following and their terrible suggestions are of course annoying. At the pharmacy, they hire young migrant girls to watch the aisles. Asking them anything medical related will lock them into a confused state, and they don't even know the names of any of the products they sell, or what it does.  I can't believe some clothes shops won't even let you take a 20 yuan t-shirt off the rack to look at it or check the size.  They don't trust you to try something on in the fitting room, and don't even trust you to pull it off the rack to take a better look.I imagine many of these shops wonder why sales keep going down year after year.  The more annoying they get, the better chance people will go online to shop instead.  I talk to many people, mostly girls, who say they never go shopping to buy in a market or mall anymore.  They will buy online since it is less of a hassle, and the sellers are usually more honest.  Also, no bargaining.  If you spend time observing at a mall, you will see most everyone will be empty-handed, no one likes these shops anymore than the me or you.

I LOVE it! I don't understand enough Chinese to know if they're helping, curious, or watching for theft, so I try to have fun with it.

Seriously all these things including the "hellooooo!!" I just smile and try to have fun.
