Im 45 next week and the other night I got chest pains
My grand parents died in their early 50s of heart failure so you can imagine
what was going through my mind.
I went to the doctor straight away and all is well but it got me thinking what if this was serious and I was in China
have you had these thoughts?

KABOOM!
All kidding aside, go see a doctor next time you leave the country, just in case. But I'm sure you'll be fine.
Healthcare is my number 1 issue about living in China. I eventually bought an expat health insurance plan that would evacuate me to the country of my choice for medical care should I have a serious condition.
But, it was concern for my kids healthcare that made me move back to the US. The last thing I want to do is see them get seriously sick in China.
Yes, I worried a little about my health. I didn't cook my own food, so who knows what they were putting in it because it often made me feel unwell. I was only there for 10 months, so I guess it won't have a huge impact on my future health, but I think it might have some effect. Who knows.
what is a good insurance company that has expat health insurance program i had heart surgery years ago and its always on the back of my mind also
I bought health insurance $500 for 4 months. basically I'm healthy, I wrecked my knee here last winter, it still hurts if i walk too much, never went to have it looked at.
Get a stress test done on your heart. I had one done, my heart is good, have to worry about the contents of my skull tho.
Worry? No. Concerned? Definitely. The longer I live in China, the more concerned I become. People here are crazy, and in having no thought about the manufacturing or creation of food with questionable, toxic, or down-right dangerous substances in them. If it isn't gutter oil, then it's tainted milk. If it isn't bits of plastic dyed green and shaped like peas, then it's fish caught from polluted rivers and lakes. Having to watch and be aware of the latest scam or outrage takes never ending vigilance.
But, one has to eat. If the food don't get ya, then the air will. If it ain't the air, then a crazy taxi drive will clip you crossing the street! Yikes! What's up with that?!
Probably my biggest concern. As I only stay for shorter periods I take out travel insurance and that covers medical. I am 57 and as I age and spend more time in China it will be a big issue. My plan is that if anything serious happens while I am in China if at all possible I will just get the next plane back to Australia.
Any who complain about health care in Australia need to take a good look at how things are elsewhere.
I am concerning about the food everyday even I am chinese, but I kown most chinese not
