I ever studied abroad. But, my english just stay conversation level. people who know me always say that she knows english and let her be a tanslator. This makes me feel a lot of pressure. It seems I can talk everything without barrieries. Do you meet the same situation when you are back home?
No but they assume that you do just like if your in the Airforce people assume you can fly planes.
probably, there has not have too many situation which need people to speak chinese, so there is no pressure for you.
Of course they are like "you were in China, so you speak Chinese. Say something Chinese" Having to translate so someone is much less of a deal.
But the worst comment said is the "you were in China, so you ate a lot of sushi, huh?"
