I looked through the Internet about Green, but there aren't any web links or reviews on School with that name.

Anybody can became 'online teaching school', so I'd say, if you don't have answers from them, it's not even worth to ask Q about it.

You can also seek info about School by sticking their name in Yahoo-gle search, and read reviews, if they are any.

tashanka:

It is an agency or smth else. The thing is they bother ppl by emails and posts on echinacities. But all they propose are fake, no answers , no job. So just wanna say to others, be careful, don't trust Dora and Ted from GreenESL)

Hello! I just saw your post about GreenEsl. I know them for half a year already. Mostly they never reply my messages too. But they asked me to come for the interview to one training center once. Before the interview they offered one salary, after the interview offered salary much lower. When I asked why they changed the salary, i was answered that in China they usually offer higher salary before the interview to increase the teacher's interest about the job. Several days after the interview Ted from GreenEsl sent me a message and was asking to send him the contacts of visa agents which i have in my wechat. Yesterday I received a message from one guy, who introduced himself as a manager from that training center, where i went for the interview once. He said that Ted from GreenEsl gave him my wechat ID. The guy asked me to send him the contacts of any ESL agencies from my wechat. Finally i found out that i never met this guy. He is not the one from the training center. Now I am also thinking who Ted and Grace from GreenEsl are? Do they really help to find a job or they are just swindlers...

sorrel:

They sound like swindlers.

here is a standard list of questions i would ask any place:

  1. What visa do you offer?
  2. How many classes a day will I be expected to teach?
  3. How many hours would a teacher be expected to work per week?
  4. How long is each class?  Is each class considered “one hour” even if it is only 45 or 50 minutes long?
  5. Will I have responsibilities other than teaching? (like cleaning your classroom or the school, recruiting students, evaluating students for placement, handing out flyers for the school, etc.)  If so, will I be paid for that time?
  6. Will I be expected to stay at the school even when I don’t have classes?
  7. How do we decide if the students are progressing or successful?
  8. Will there be a curriculum provided?
  9. What salary do you offer?
  10. How many students are in a class?  How are they placed or evaluated for placement?
  11. Does the job provide housing?  Is it furnished?  What does “furnished” mean?  How are the bills paid?  How far is it from the school?  Is it easy to get to work from there?  Do I have to pay a deposit for it?  How big is it?  Will I have to share it?  Is there a monthly “maintenance fee” that I must pay?  How much is it?
  12. Who is my boss?  To whom do I report?  Who evaluates me?
  13. What criteria is used to decide if I am successful?
  14. Will I have a work space available at the school?  A desk, an office?
  15. How much sick and vacation time do I get?  Who decides when I can use it?  Can I use it all at one time?  Does it accrue monthly or can I only use it at the end of my contract?
  16. Is there a bonus or gratuity payment at the end of my contract?  How much is it?  How is it determined?
  17. What teaching resources does the school provide?  Teacher’s manuals?  Photocopy machine? (who regulates its use?),  Internet?  Computer?  Printer?  Paper?  Chalk/Markers?
  18. Is there air conditioning and/or heating in the classrooms?
  19. Are there other foreign teachers at the school?  Can I talk to them before I make my decision?

If they can not answer these questions clearly, in writing, they are fraudulent.

DON'T give any personal identification information such as passport or qualifications to any place that does not answer these questions clearly.

And spread the name of fraudsters to all you are in contact with.

Good luck in your search and be sure that you have everything clearly in writing before you make a decision.
