Q: Does anyone else receive numerous spam SMS and calls each day?

And is there any way of blocking them. I really hate it!

I get spam SMS, but I think those are from the phone company. I also get random phone calls that I never answer. Both have come at any time of day or night. Now I just put my phone on silent when I sleep because I hate being woken at 4 am. Fortunately I don't get them every day, but almost.

Yeah. I used to get only a few before, but recently I receive about 5 calls and messages a day. Stupid spam and chain mail are making me crazy.

I get them too.  Random spam SMS's for everything from ringtones to real estate to brothels.  Then there are the scam calls where they call you and hang up immediately.  Never call those back because the phone company will charge you a fortune for calling a "special" number.

I have an app on my phone that silences all calls & messages from numbers not in my phone book.  So at least I don't get woken up at 4am by them.  :)

What's the app?

Yes, the phone calls are usually about some insurance. When I get phone calls the person on the other line will not introduce themselves. They just keep talking about their life insurance policy plan that I'm not interested in.

When you receive these kind of phone calls, don't answer and don't write sms back.

These phone calls are like junk emails you get in your spam box. Until you don't open or reply the email, you don't confirm that your email address is correct.

The same for these junk phone calls, if you answer or reply their SMS, you just confirm that your number is valide and they can send more spam to you and also share the information with other spammers.

There are some Chinese websites that list some of the junk numbers.

1) in China, there is no such thing as privacy, so your mobile phone is of public domain. Any fair, any local business can share or sell your mobile phone number to other companies for promotion.
2) try to keep one number that you give only for registration (like you may do on internet when you register to a website), and another one only for business purposes.
