The website of Xiaomi looks really good, but I wonder why prices are so cheap there...Does foreigner people use Xiaomi products a lot here in China?
Some SE Asian countries have already started selling Xiaomi phones. According to reports they were instant sellouts. However, recently there has been some negative reports about the company. Attached is the link.

It's good phone but done expect it to outperform the likes of iPhone or Samsung. If you are not bother by the negative news about the company then go ahead and get it.
I brought Samsung Galaxy GT-I8552 last year. Now the price goes down,it is good with the front camera and back camera. It costes rougly 1200rmb now.If you do not have high requirement for the phone, you might go for this one.It is nice one.
I can tell you their new big smartTV is excellent. I have never owned a Xiaomi phone.
My wife and I have a xiaomi3 phones (1400rmb) and a xiaomi TV (50 inch 4000rmb).
I have nothing bad to say about either. Products are cheap and reasonable quality, delivery is superfast from xiaomi website. The phones are fast and reliable and the tv is great except that the only menu is in Chinese and it took some experimenting to figure out. My wife loves to watch western tv shows and the excellent preinstalled TV/movie app in the phone beams to the tv (when on the same wifi router) with passable quality with the touch of an icon on the phone screen. Tv comes with an awesome sound system. All music no goes through the tv.
No issues to report so far. Value for money is good. Perhaps you can find better quality but you will pay through the nose.
The prices are about the same as the well-known brands...Hell, you can get an HTC One X (a 2012 model but an amazing phone) for a 1000 kuai now. A Xiaomi costs more..

I agree...HTC or even Huawei ... I think... hate it when Chinese get on a wagon (Xiaomi) and the volume just gets ridiculous
I was hot on buying one of these things for quite a while.... very decent equipment and very decent price...... that was just a week or two ago..... now, I have changed my mind ..... read too much stuff........ not going to do it.... not impressed with the potential scandals or the longevity.... good luck XIAOMI .. even if a phone is only a couple years... truth is forever.
I need a for sure English thing...
Actually I'm thinking to buy a TV from this company. Thank you very much for your comments!

Great image, almost as wide as my bed, 3D, mind fuck sound for a measly 4k. You can't go wrong. PS when you order outside the bullshit tuesday lunchtime window, they say 3weeks delivery. Mine was 3 days.

Hmm dunno about TV's....My MIL bought us a Chinese brand Smart TV - Hisense. Has been fine, 3D and all that, 5000 kuai.
Had a Xiao Mi 2 before, only used it for 6 months and the friggin charging port on it broke. Took it to the repair shop and heard that it was a common issue for Xiao Mi 2's. Got it repaired, and another six months later, the internal microphone broke. Meaning nobody can hear me during phone calls. Had it less than a year, and 2 somewhat serious problems occured. That was the shortest lifespan of a phone I have ever had.
Wouldn't even think of getting another Xiao Mi, even if it is a 3.
Xiao Mi's are poverty versions of Samsungs.
Got a Iphone 4S, although I was going for the CS. Shop didn't have it. So I'm loving my 4S, even though it's a bit outdated.
In other words, Iphones and Samsungs areway better than Xiao Mi's.

Menu button doesn't work in mine Xiaomi Mi 2s. I rarely used it in the beginning and it was working. But then, one day I found it is as insensitive as Chinese customer services, it may work only if I hammered with a bulldozer. As I know it doesn't work, I am trying to use it frequently hoping that someday it will work automatically. If it is only issue with my phone then I might buy another latest Mi, if quite common then I adios Mi.
Xiaomi is the best that you will get from China, they crush Huawei, Oppo and else.
The Xiaomi 3 is the only smartphone with an integrated Nvidia Tegra 4 GPU (normally made for tablets) that outperform any other mobile GPU on the market.
After it is a Chinese company, that means copyright infringement, no R&D spendings, all their parts come from other manufacturers, that is why it is so cheap.
Xiaomi is the worlds 5th largest phone maker. They would not be if their products are not on par with HTC, Samgsung etc.
Jetfire had a problem that I also know people who've had. Broken usb plug. But a broken microphone within a year, that can happen to any phone.

can it? Never had a phone break like that one. It was a 2S. Chinese people seemed somewhat happy when I told them I liked it and thought it was good. I had optimism towards the thing and took care of it, but as you can see that didn't pay off so well.
Xiao Mi 2( 小米二) reminds me of 二货 (second rate crap)
Xiao Mi 3 (小米三) sounds like 小三, xiao san.
Don't buy 4 whenever it comes out, cause we all know 4 sounds like 死 (death).

Perhaps but after my first, and only, Chinese brand phone I will never buy another. They're not cheap, but they do win the race to break in multiple annoying ways. Started breaking at 5 months. Within eight months my Chinese phone was useless. Planned obsolescence through breakage. Buy another! Not me, I don't play that. My Sammy, Moto, iPhone (on loan from a techie) all last at least two years if not five. Give me an iPhone, Samsung, Motorola ... in other words, QUALITY, any time. Rich or not, why throw away 2000 to 3000 RMB?
Scandinavian:
I've actually never had a phone break. The closest was a two year old HTC that had to go because the batterylife was recombining problematic. I've had a phone in my pocket since 1996, and never once has one broken (and I've only had one Nokia.... was it a 2110i ?)
A thing to remember is. Chinese phones pretty much are built the same as any other phone, and most non-Chinese phones are made in China.
An iPhone might be an exception. I do think Apple has done a good job in the physical design to make it a high quality product. But the main reason I think an iPhone lasts longer is it's higher price tag. You just are more careful with a 5000rmb phone than a 1500rmb phone. In my old company back home, we could pick whatever phones we'd like, and the guy from IT in charge of purchasing, replaced just as many broken iPhones as Samsungs and HTCs. People didn't care about them because they were free.

Not sure about that Scandanavian. I took care of my Xiao Mi very well actually. Maybe the Xiao Mi is just too long and skinny compared to an I phone which seems bulkier (and more sturdy?) I'm not knowledgeable at all about these things, but my guess is the hardware going into the Xiao Mi's is good but there's little things that they need to tweak to make the thing more sturdy and break proof. Only experience in the industry can solve those miscues. I got my 4S for 2800, which was 1000 more RMB than the Xiao Mi I bought last year. I'm sure that if I just bought the IPhone last year then I wouldn't have had to replace anything, saving me a bit of cash. Not saying the specs in the Xiao Mi aren't good, just saying it doesn't seem sturdy as it needs to be.
WanderingTeacher:
I agree with Scandi, I got my phone today and I love it. I bought a LoveMei Powerful case for it..waterproof, breakproof, everything..i can drive over it and it still wouldn't break. But the reason I like it is because while it is cheap, the quality is on par with Samsung and HTC..7 years ago, I was a hardcore HTC fan, then I fell in love with Samsung, and I still love Samsung, but they are expensive. I bought a Note 2, before I came to china 8 months ago, and 2 months ago the screen went black and broke..I didn't do anything to it, and before that, the charging port also broke, but they fixed it for free.
But what I'm saying is, I have learned that sometimes even renowned good quality phones can have some issues.Since I am in China and don't have cell phone insurance like we do in America, i rather have the Xiaomi than a Samsung, because I would be more happy 6 months down the line if it breaks and I need to pay another 1100rmb for a new one, than have to replace a Samsung for another 3500rmb.
I have nothing to say on Xiaomi, just be careful the material of this product doesn't last for long time.
Don't know about the TVs, but if you want a real phone, try a Samsung, iPhone, etc. - whatever you fancy. The Xiaomi is a lame copy of the iPhone.
