Q: Does anyone know whether it's possible to apply for an S2 visa in Hong Kong?

Online rumor has it that only HK residents can apply for it there, and hopefully that's not true. I want to invite a person, currently in China, using that "private affairs" option laid out in recent rules, and my RP is being processed at the moment.

Can anyone confirm or belie the possibility of getting this type of visa in HK?

Post how you make out. Before I read that HK processed visas for southern China for Chinese but I don't think that was correct. When I tried to get a visa from BJ for my girl friend, I'm sure the only consideration given was to make sure there was enough ink on the denied stamp.

What kind of visa is S2 ? There is no such visa listed on HK Embassy's website:

You can get first hand answer by clicking 'Contact us' on the bottom of the page.

I have a S2 visa, it's for visiting family which I don't have in China. I applied for an L visa, but I can't get that unless I produce all my flight itinerary for the year. My plans are never in stone.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
