Q: Does China attract a lone wolf mentality?
I'm a lone wolf kind of guy, baby, a wandering star, a rootless roaming rider at the gates of dawn, answering to no man, a nomad with a steady hand holding his gonads in no-man's land, and wherever I lay my hat........in China...is usually the last place I see my f**king hat. But enough of that, this rambler's rambling. My question is, does China attract the type who are comfortable with their own company, sometimes for looong periods of time? Because it seems to me that i've met a great many who seem to be pretty much exactly perfectly that type.
I'd think so, but that's in direct contrast to what I've seen. The ex-pat community seems very cliquish to me-the same people hanging out all the time. Maybe people strayed too much from their comfort zone and need reassurance from like-minded individuals or some such thing.
Yes, I fit in that category. I don't mind being alone, doing what I want and I never get extremely lonely. I only miss my dog when I'm not home.
It seems to be easy to be a lone wolf in China. Especially if you don't know the language very well. Or maybe not at all. So many people. Even for teachers who have plenty of curious students. I have always been a lone wolf. I think it is one of the qualities I have hat allows me to travel to other lands and explore.

Yes most certainly a lone wolf here. I find the voices in my head are far more entertaining than the voices of others.
Have to agree with TedDBayer that the only one I miss is my dog.
