Russia charges a huge exit fee for westerners to leave the country. Does China do the same?
I've never had to pay anything at the airport but there may be a tax included in the price of the plane ticket.
I've exited China a couple of times, (last times was at the beginning of this year), I never had to pay any fee apart from airport tax (which is not specific to China).
If you get the ferry direct from the mainland to HK airport they give you money back.
They refund your airport tax, about HK$200 I think.
Never heard of such, I've exited once via plane and twice via land borders.
There are airport maintenance fees that used to be due in cash when checking in but are now included in the ticket's price. Never heard of exit fees for foreigners.
I think you are asking about the fees you need to pay when your visa is expired.
Otherwise, there is no exit fee.
