Q: Does China lack celebrity culture like in the West?

Obviously China has it's stars, but I don;t get the impression that celebrity culture is as big and blown-up here. I've never seen paparazzi here or heard people chatting about the latest Chinese celeb gossip.

They definitely do, you might just not be aware as they would be about it.

Have you seen a womans mag here?

Anyway who needs celebrity culture in your face everyday, thats what makes the west as degenerate as it has become, worshipping mindless , soulless Part synthetic zombies.

I like being away from all the fake glossy celebrity worship we have in the west.

I think it's merely a matter of time. At some point in the future, they will probably become more obsessed with celebrities.

Are you kidding? All they ever seem to talk about is what the celebreties are wearing, what haircuts they have, etc. Those variety shows are all anyone talks about at work. And have you noticed that half the nationally-sold products have brooding pop singers and their signatures right next to them.

I'd say the current set of twenty-somethings is celebrity-obsessed to the extreme.
