The middle class is still in its growing stage, but it does exist. Families able to afford a car, to be able to buy a house and not just live in the parent's house for their entire lives. It's the middle class that has grown the online shopping in China to the monster it is now.
Unless you're grouping the poor as anyone under the middle class standard of western countries.
