Q: Does China really have nothing to offer it's young?

Since my wife came to America (much to the surprise of many of her friends), the majority of her female friends are asking her to find them western boyfriends / husbands.

In some cases, there are even male former classmates asking her to find western girlfriends / wives. Of course, none of those men even bothered to learn English. What the hell?

On the other hand, several girls have worked hard to learn English and one has even found a suitable candidate. Now, uh... why aren't many boys bothering to learn English?

How old are her friends? Do you know them in person? What kind of people do you think they are,  the female ones and the males ones, respectively? Are they smart? Patient? Rich?Persistent enough?what conditions do they have? Do they have full-time jobs?   If you know them better than I do, which I assume so, I guess you have a better answer to your question than I could give? Smile

Does these women who asks for foreign boyfriends even know anything about this country "Foreign", I mean, and no offense to you Americans on the site, but there seems to be a blind attraction to the US, whereas e.g. Finland might be a better society in every thinkable way.

Is China's attraction to the US really just a backlash of the US being portrayed as the big enemy at the same time as also the big economic competition. Great if some people long to live in the US, it just often seems like a plan not very well though through.

I think it's mostly the movies.

I mean, there are so many things from Hollywood movies that people here take as fact...

Spot on.

Free visas should be handed out on the condition they have to move to Detroit. I'm sure opinions would soon change!

They don't care if it's the U.S. or not, just not China. Anywhere but China seems to be better for them. They seem to think that because I treat my wife better than she ever dreamed of, that all foreign men are the same way.

Granted, there are some great foreigners out there... but some of them are scumbuckets. I didn't hang around with most of them in China for a reason.

Ha, if they moved to Detroit, they'd probably turn the place around quickly. Or just devolve it into rural China...

when it comes to 'western' TV programms, It is the predominantly  American TV that is viewed in China. this could be part of the reason America is so attractive to so many people (again, no offence to American posters here!).

Hulk:

It's not just America, though. They like Europe too...

yes, but they are usually British. there are so many excellent TV series from Sweden, Denmark and France that never get seen because they are not in English. (I want to live in Sweden after seeing some of their programmes ;o)

Yeah, I like Sweden. It's kinda odd, though. <3 Switzerland, though.

A lot of Chinese know about Germany, and they like it. One of my friends wants to move there.

1) So, how's your Chinese?

2) You aren't Western

3) You clearly are just emulating descendants of white colonialists who cynically belittle Asian men and sexualise Asian women to make themselves feel better for their lack of masculinity.

Hulk:

1) 您好!对不起,我的中文很差。

2) 恩,我是中国人!

3)啊,你怎么知道呀

Like many others, I just find your constant BS boring. The fact that you have made up other personalities to give yourself false credibility is even more boring.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
