I drink a lot of tea here and not so much coffee. I also need to pee like every 30 minutes, compared to say 60 minutes back home. Is tea worse than coffee for this, or is this just some sort of placebo effect?
Tea for me is not as bad as coffee. But compared to water, I will generally run to the bathroom more when drinking these beverages.
I think Tea leaves and coffee both do not have this role. It must you drink too much water.
Diuretic. I think both coffee and tea qualify, look it up. For me, coffee has a dual effect....gets the bowels slicked up too
To my knowledge, coffee is a diuretic, and I am not too familiar with tea to know. But they are both liquids, and your kidney will work to remove whatever liquid you drink from your body with the toxins. Water, beer, coffee, tea, etc, drink a large glass and you will be at the nearest WC for # 1 within 30 minutes. Now, at least for me, if I do drink any liquids, except coffee, hot, my visit to WC will take longer due to more activities there.....
They both contain caffeine, which is a diuretic. Of course, if you're peeing that often, you're drinking too much liquid anyway.
(#)!!So does that mean it's hard for you to sit through a 2 hour movie? Man it sure does suck! Try holding it longer and see what happens. Just a test(!!
Matty just thumbed everyone down, have one up from me.
Dumb question. Even if tae and coffee were not diuretics they would tend to make you pee more just by adding liquid to your body.
No, but what I really could do with, is something I have not been able to do for three days now.
Scandinavian:
Coffee tends to help here. I think the first months in China, I also had a tendency to build up for days. Also, make sure to get some fruits, all the noodle and rice tend to work like a cork.
An apple a day....
I think tea does as coffee tends to dehydrate.

I guess this was a pretty dumb question, but I'm not a scientist so whatever.
Interesting point about dehydration. I just found this: http://www.livestrong.com/article/524680-does-tea-have-a-dehydrating-effect/
I have lots of time to pee, if I have to or want to ...so no problem ............ I have discovered though that in all the big supermarkets ( wal-mart, supercenter etc.) that cater to westerners as well as locals, that their coffee is way over priced........... a block away from my big time shopping place is a mid-sized indoor market that sells the coffee I buy for 60 kuai......... in the international place it is 80............
and as stated above, my morning constitution works a whole lot better after my first cup of coffee ........ I only drink one or 2 in the morning............ I never drink tea or coffee in the evenings, I'd never sleep.
the more liquids you drink, the more you have to pee. do they teach anything in schools these days? or does everyone get a cert for writing their names?
next poster explain why the op should run with scissors
Coffee (caffeine) is a diuretic and will cause the effects mentioned. Not many toilets here and we love out coffee so my advice is........Just get a pair of those crutchless numbers the local kids wear and drink away till your hearts content.
Neither makes me pee more. However, beer is a meanie on my bladder. Pee like a racehorse when drinking beer...
Coffee makes me "regular" every morning so it's a better laxative than diuretic.
