Q: Does ECC ever make you feel angry?

Actually I want to ask, "How does ECC make you feel?"

Because, in some ways, it's like a breath of fresh air. There are still people with common sense in the world. I have found some on ECC. It also pisses me off, like being called a loser and poser today.

Also I found the same with expat websites in SE Asia (though those are mostly full of sexpats), there is still common sense in the world. Before I worked at a university in USA and found not so many people with common sense. But in seems like on Asian expat websites there are a lot of people with common sense.

So. "How does surfing on ECC make you feel?"

Great.

China is a country with complex problems, but Chinese people generally won't talk about those problems with honesty, depth or lucidity.

For expats, processing the reality that we face can be frustrating because of Chinese people's lack of perspective, unwillingness to address reality, attempts at obfuscation, and complicity in their own enslavement.

For a free-thinking person, being able to express reasoned observations amongst people who appreciate that kind of thing is necessary to avoid going mad.

Also you mention the problems of the China, I like being able to talk about these with people who "get it", but also there are some things about living here I'm addicted to. My Chinese friends/"friends" don't understand, my friends in the west don't understand. Some people here get it, why living in a place with such a different and strange paradigm/societal operating system is addictive. Asia, my home.

No. I do not get angry anymore. I have now embraced the dark side, and accept the superiority and guidance of my Chinese masters.

For me it confirms my own sanity.

It also stops me from succumbing and learning to love big brother...

A little Chestnut Tree Cafe in China.

For me this site and the related ones I post on (such as ThaiVisa forums, an expat site in Thailand, again mostly sexpats, still mostly a good bunch) are a refuge not just from eastern idiocy (these countries, Thai/Lao/Burma/China/Korea/Japan are really variations on a theme) but also western idiocy, such as the PC nonsense that dominates universities and other institutions in the west.

sb whose traveled to those countries can correct me if i'm i'm wrong. i'm going on what i've read and heard. thai/ korea/ japan does not belong in the same cat as china. ii can't speak for the rest. anyone trying to elevate china by putting in with those countries must have an agenda. but it could be my paranoia.

crimochina, I keep comparing Korea/Japan/Thai/China because they're different variations on the same theme. Just like if you (I take it you are from US?) go to Germany or Mexico or Oz, you'll certainly find differences and variations, but the societies are basically the same. Same with all of those. For example, they all run on something like "buddha time', things tend to happen as they happen.they have the same irrational xenophobia, etc. Now India, that's a very very different culture. In fact the differences in the SE Asian countries stem from the various levels China has influenced them vs. how India influenced them. Cambodia/Khmer culture and Thai have strong Indian influence, Vietnam is very much like China.

Yeah I agree they are a refuge in general.

Well all depends on the scale- Japan has its fair share of history manipulation, Korea nationalistic mania and don't even get me started on the good Thai King...He really is a first class piece of work that is a stubborn stain on what otherwise is a lovely country. All be it with a few problems with dodgy westerners...

All the east and SE asian nations have (overall) the same nationalistic mania, irrational xenophobia, etc. It's like they have no way to incorporate outsiders into their conceptions of themselves as nations, hence the completely irrational behavior, on one hand clear favorable treatment (the token foreigners/white face to give credibility to your company), on the other hand treating them like "guilty until proven innocent".

for sb who does not know how to ignore a crazy windbag, this site would seem like a wealth of "common sense" (the 1 eyed man is king to the blind)

i'm not saying there isn't a lot of common sense but that is why you seem in awe of it.

i do not know how that leads to does ecc ever make you angry. seems like 2 conflicting ideas (i am in awe of the common sense  of the posters.... does ECC ever make you angry)

"surfing on ECC"  makes me feel entertained, seeing stupid pucks who can't figure their way out of a plastic bag, chinese people who hate being chinese so much that they claim to be foreigners, expats possibly working for the ccp propaganda wing, trolls, moles and all.

at times  it does get frustrating because this is a forum in china, andthe admin has to do what he/she has to to keep this site from getting banned. but in all this is the best thing to do when i have nothing else to do.

vicky please please please , i've been on this site non stop for a month already i need someone to invest my time in!!!! please!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

At times it can, though I learnt long ago to avoid the trolls and the people who use this space as a trash can to spew out their verbal diarrhea into so I'm fine. There seems to quite a lot of that on here though and I just aws'[fdndsrgrjdlgnbgrnjb hb bgfvg;nfdvklfmnbfd;v nfldjvnfdvbfg; bbnfgv;srefmjrifgmregfrdngbrtdgnbrtg'nrd
