Q: Does the news of the 'royal baby' make you glad you are in China?
Seeing the crowds of the deluded outside various institution in Britain, Australia and Canada makes me realise that China is an excellent place to be at the moment.
How do others feel about this occasion?
Totally agree. I heard even The Sun, our finest newspaper save for The Daily Mail, even changed their name to "The Son" for the birth of the kid.
Suggested names anyone? I'm going for Nigel.

Absolutely. Nothing less interesting than the royal family.
Exactly the same as you. All the sheep getting stirred up by the media into thinking that there is something wonderful about this woman having a baby, despite millions of women giving birth around the world every day. What is the difference this time, it is a rich woman married into a family that has declared it's "right" to lord it over the rest of us. A lot of people say things like "isn't she lovely" or "how nice the royal family are". How do they know what these people are really like all they see is carefully manipulated stories by the media and they think they actually know them as well as they know one of their own family. It just makes me realise how stupid most people really are. I am English and strongly republican.

The only difference is that the taxpayer will be paying extortionate amounts for this child from as of now. No doubt the best of healthcare, education and luxuries will be lavished on this child whilst the country goes into decline...
I hope the madness of this ends in my lifetime.
The royal family lost all credibility as an establishment years ago. They are now just a sideshow to attract tourists. I couldn't be more nonplussed by the "royal birth" if I tried. 
Give a break, there's morons like this in every culture and country, only the idols change.
Where's the crowds in Canada? I don't give a rats ass. Royality, ?? just a bunch of ugly people. The idea that anyone even uses or recognizes royality offends me. These are people with no real purpose in life and living in undeserved wealth.
I am happy to be in China as this BS unfolds. Couldn't be less interested. They still vote against Australia being a Republic! Go figure.
I agree with the above comments totally... it's not just the royal family that I don't care about but also 'celebrities' too - who cares what they do or what they think ?!?
I wish I was in China now.it's really annoying when I turn on the TV nowdays,it's always talking about the "Royal baby".Who cares
Doesn't bother me in the least, as us Yanks severed ties with the royal family some 200+ years ago 
why such a fuss over a baby born into an over-privileged family? i am more excited about my brothers wife who is expecting their first baby soon - now THAT is more interesting for me!

No. On the day that nine British citizens are arrested in Trafalgar Square for voicing their objections to the Baroness, the BBC News instead offer their opening platform to Carol Thatcher, a dumped non-star of I'm a celebrity get me out of here, and to Sir Mark Thatcher (Sir!), unseen since the disgrace of his involvement in selling arms to countries at odds with Britain (magically, he avoided a 15-year prison term and was financially bailed out by his mother - her moral conscience nowhere in sight as Sir Mark patriotically took his 64 million and fled to Gibraltar having been refused entry to Switzerland and Monaco. What kind of mother raised such a son?) Both Mark and Carol get the BBC spotlight because they mourn their mother's death, whilst those honest civilians who mourn Thatcher's life are shunted out of view.

I agree, the royal family are out of date and in a truely democratic society, a 'constitutional monarchy' just doesn't cut it with me.
But for the UK, a surprisingly large amount of people like them, and have no desire to remove them. British tax payers DO NOT pay any money for the royal family. Long ago we did, but now, NO.
Long ago in ye olden days, yes, the royal family owned most of the land and still own a lot, ie the crown estates and various 'aristocracy'. It makes up about 1/3 of land ownership.
This is one of the main sources of their income, along with the next most obvious one - tourism.
So thank you to all of those millions of Chinese tourists that are feeding the royal monster and making the UK millions of pounds in tourism.
So @DaquingDevil saying 'THEY still vote against Australia being a republic' I hope you make it clear that it was the Australian peoples choice to remain connected to the UK, in a referendum. The fact is, most people like the idea of being connected to a greater thing.
I'm sure you'll find some Chinese with there freaky finger nail, who wish they were little emperors and china had an emperor instead.
Anyway - baby, yeah, so WHAT! Maybe he'll be as mad as George III or have a serious stutter.

Biggest news in the world at present. Simply because they are liked and envied the world over, even by the Americans who got rid of them. The reasons why are irrelevant. The facts are that our Royal Family are the most popular in the world.
Sadly, it is a heavy burden for the new family but, they seem to know how to handle it, and the press normally seem to respect them, in part due to Diana's death etc.
As with everything, if you don't like someone or something, try and ignore it.

You are right the 'royals' are envied all over the world. Who would not envy free money for very little work. They are the biggest bunch of scrounging, tax dodging parasites on the planet. They and their ancestors have systematically abused and bullied their way into positions of privilege.
The really sad thing is that people support their own oppression- indeed even relish it...
I think that the birth of a baby is a happy moment to be celebrated, especially if he or she is born into a loving family regardless of whether the family is Royalty or somewhat more humble.
I truly wish them all my best!
