Q: Does spicy food really give you pimples?

I've heard this everywhere.

I doubt it. I ate more spicy food than I wanted to in China, and I got maybe 1 or 2 pimples in a year.

No. Neither does chocolate. Acne is too complicated a thing to be reduced to 'I ate x....I got pimples.' It typically involves hormones influencing sebum production, which in turn causes natural flora operating on the skin to over flourish and cause an infection.

Even the occasional, non-acne related pimple...probably came from a blocked pore, not those chilies you ate for dinner.

Never any problem for me, and I eat plenty of hot peppers. Love that hot food.

Superstition and gutter-oil give you pimples. Eat as much chili as you possibly can, it is good for you (unless you encounter something too spicy and stroke out)
