Q: Does your barber shop also offer the massage services?
The barber shop I've been going to just changed the price from 38 to 58 rmb with the massage service included....
It doesn't seem to be as common in China now. When I first went to China in 2003, they used to do upper body, arm and scalp massages, which were quite relaxing.
In fact, they apparently offered other services. When told my colleagues I was going for a haircut (my first in China) and couldn't speak Chinese, they apparently thought it would be funny to write down that I wanted that extra service, without telling me. I was quite surprised when the girl tried to accommodate the written request...
Since you're an expert, maybe you can tell me where all the barber shops are generally located in each city. I want to travel more this summer.

No, they only cut hair, but I don't want any more from them. They're all guys who look like a Flock of Seagulls tribute band.

you must live in a better city than i, in this city all the hair stylists are gay males or males who look that way, so i wait and find a female to cut my hair. let the flames begin, its my money, i will spend it the way i want, even my wife complains about my attitude about this.

The barber shop I used to go to offered the massage service for something like an extra 10 rmb. After the hair washing, they'd massage the scalp, neck, back, and arms. More often than not, it'd be a rather effeminate young male....so I'd normally refuse. Anyways, they closed shop a while ago. Now the place I go to is pretty basic, but at least they wash my hair before AND after the cut. Can't complain for only 20 rmb though.
Didn't most barber shop find that massage made more than cutting hair, so they quit cutting and expanded on massage and business was booming.
It's funny how everyone assumes Silva is talking about female barbers.
