Q: Does your company make you do group exercises each day?

Walked into an office the other while all the workers were doing their routine morning exercises. They had a CD player blaring music and an instructor telling everyone what exercise to do. I thought it was hilarious and kind of weird, but at the same time I noticed that everyone was smiling and having a good time. Now I wish my office did that!

Some Hotels and Restaurants in Dalian have same staff exercise every morning: everybody is outside, and they're following moves of 'acting manager'.

Passers-by are mostly watching whole 'enchilada', because it is difficult (too crowded) to walk during exercise. You can walk only in between the lines of exercising staff.

i would never do it if they asked. it is a control mechanism, it establishes control over the workers.

No, they don't! Why do you ask btw? I did before when I was working at a center, and we used to do it 3 times a week in the military..

I can hear the rest of your company yelling,'' Run, Forest, Run'' or Lin as you are known locally.

My company has never done this, and of course I woudn't participate.  My gf has to do it at her smaller trading company; something like a group dance.  She doesn't seem to mind it though, as it's done within the confines of the company (not in public).

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
