See the bright side from it. Otherwise you would not be able to save money. You would spend everything on the "night hawks" wink

Yeah. I stay in a hostel for international students. They lock at 11 and open at 6. Insanity. But with a good bribe here and there, everyone can be happy !

"SHI FU, KAI MEN!"

kchur:

Yeah, curfew is technically ten here, the guards sleep in the guardhouse, but they don't care if I wake them up, and in the daytime I chat with them a bit and hand out smokes, a few chinese teachers do the same.

Get a key.  That's ridiculous.  You're an adult, you don't have a curfew.

I have taught in two universities and both gave me a key.  When the other expats asked how did I manage, I told them the truth. I just asked for one.  Now, one of my friends worked in another university and they did not want to give him a key. So, if it was after 11 and the guard would not open, he would call his bosses in the English language department and Foreing Affairs Department.  After a few calls at 1 or 2 am and having to go to the guard to let my friend in, they gave up and gave all the foreign teachrs keys.  You may want to try that.

That is f'ing disgusting you should be ashamed of yourself to let them treat you like that.  Locking you in/out?  What kind of person would allow themselves to be treated like that by the chinese, don't you have any self respect?

Se above for all you ahve to do.
