Chinese people can say anything they want about China but the minute we agree with them........."If you hate China you should leave!"
What's up with that?
Perhaps it is akin to the fact that American Blacks can call each other the N word all day long and it is just fine. But should any other race use that word, you better be ready to rumble.
But personally, I think it is more like how you can pick on your sibling and they can do the same to you all day long, but if an outsider jumps on your sibling, then the whole family jumps in.
Every country has its issues, and most of the time the people in that country realize the issues and are working (albeit slowly sometimes) to fix those issues. But nobody likes it when outsiders throw those issues in their face over and over again.
I have had my share of bad things to say about China, but in the long run, I do try to keep things in perspective and somewhat balanced.
The Chinese are weak, weak willed, and therefore can not accept any criticism of china from an outside source. The han race sees all threats to their existence as external in origin. Just a few million Tibetans and Uighys is able to threaten their way of life. The only thing they can do is try to breed their minorities out of existance.
It's just natural sensitivity. I often crack on myself for being stupid or slow or forgetting what I was talking................................
............oh, right, but if anyone else says it, I take it to heart, like they hate me or something. Then I wanna cry, an' I tell my mommy.
Like this one time, there's this dude, right? He starts telling me I got his space modulator. Like I don't know which is MY space modulator. I mean my name was right there where I wrote it, for anyone to see. Just underneath where it said 'Made In China'. And.............well..............oh, I don't wanna talk about it!
Mommy!!!!!!!!!
Well, it is not always true. I've met a lot of Chinese with a wider view of the world and they like to criticize China on many aspects. Chinese education sucks, the pollution is killing us, the national news is lame and misleading, the traffic is a nightmare, the corruption, food safety and the bla bla and bla...And they have never gotten angry at me when expressing the same criticism. On contrary, most of them always agree with me. I guess it all has to do with the way you say it and reason with them...
I think a lot of it has to do with the WAY you criticise China and WHERE you criticise China.
If you criticise in a small group of friends (or even a small class of students) and do so constructively i.e. offer an alternative, most Chinese I have met will take that no problem. If however you are totally negative and are being so in a hugely public place, (like on a public forum or in a large bar to a crowd), then you are going to attract all the wrong type of attention. No-one likes to be publicly ridiculed and that usually applies to their nation.
Think of it as if someone were saying the same thing in the same manner about your home country, would you be angry, would you leap to your country's defense?
Funny, I've heard the same thing said in America...
I Think,if you cry wolf like you did, plus destroying a new posters reputation, you should have at least not posted for a while
