The only app I use on my phone is answers.echinacities.com, its got this cool feature where every 10 minutes it automatically generates a spite-filled thread about Traveler. Whether you like it or not.
Search for SnapPea. cool program, connect ur pc and droid, and have lot of apps, some may be virus, but i got Eset security ( paid ) on pc and droid, so its warn me in time

Just a heads up. There are TONS of virsuses and malware that are designed to go undected by antivirus software.
It use to be true that if you had good antivirus software it would catch most things. That's really changed in the last few years. Now even with anitvirus software installed it's quite easy to download malware/trojans and never know it.
The safest things to do are 1) only download from the offical google play service (not possible though if you bought your phone in China 2) if you do have to use a 3rd party site or app to download things check the permission settings before you install, there's usually things in there that will raise a red flag
You can use a computer with Google Play to DL apps. I had an android phone from home and it just DL from Google Play. Now I have to google seach for the app to find it, I can't find a search window on google play.
TedDBayer:
maybe you can DL google play by computer, then DL apps by computer to phone?
Nessquick:
nope, i tried with many ways, and is almost impossible. the only way is root the whole system on your droid, but something which i would not do by myself

I rooted my own phone , but haven't figured out what I can do with it, frigging smart phones are smarter than I am, but I own all the hammers.
I found the best luck by going to the google website on my computer and downloading apps from there directly to my phone connected by USB. You may need to use a VPN to download apps that aren't allowed in China, but at least it works. :)

Was your phone bought in China ? As far as I know this option doesn't work with phones bought in China.
Only way I know of to access google play with a phone bought in China is by rooting your phone.
download 1mobile market on your phone. All apps are free.

I would love to know if anyone has ever gotten google play to work in China with a phone bought in China.
As far as I know the ONLY way is to root your phone, which I'd rather not do. If anyone else knows of a way place let me know.
It's very annoying that I spent so much money on a high end top of the line phone, but I can't even get most apps without being worried that they are malware or viruses. Even when I travel back to America I still can't access google play on my phone.
This is a big reason why China was just ranked #1 for most phones being infected with malware. By the government (I'm assuming they did it) blocking access to google play, people are forced to use 3rd party sites and apps to download apps but those places are full of nasty malware and trojans and what not.

I was thinking about one way - ask my bro, who stay in Czech, to download the apps, than send them to me via skype or any other way, than i may install them. Well, I asking him 1 month and yet not single sign up to google he was not able to do. Have to find someone else :)
I had the same problem until I read up about it - from this website- you need to get the phone routed - this cost me 2 visits to the place I bought the phone from and 100 RMB - Just make sure that it works before you leave
Well you have to root your phone first and then install google service package(it contains googl+,play, maps, music etc..)
hope this helps:
