Q: Drugs crack down in Beijing

There have been a few bars and a festival around beijing that have been raided and everyone has been made to take a drugs test...do you think this is a new phase of zero tolerance or will everything be back to normal in four months?

If you come to China and involve yourself with drugs you deserve what you get. China is not America or the Netherlands.

humbug:

The problem is that the testing is unreliable and there are no chances to appeal or state your case. One girl who failed the test had been in China for one day. She failed one urine test and she got immediately deported. There was no proof that she had even taken drugs in China.  and those tests have been criticised in America for being unrealiable. Various legal medicines can produce the same result as amphetamines or marijuana.

So even if you come to China and you haven't involved yourself  in drugs you can still get imprisoned and deported because of a total lack of fair judicial process

Sinobear:

The thing about the woman who was a tourist FOB - she was at a club known for drug users and dealers. Back when I lived in Beijing, it was always the clubs and bars that the Russians frequented that got raided. Later, it was the nightclubs where it was known E was available (not so much drug raids, but passport checks).

They showed Chinese satellite shots today at CC teli. They were saying how satellite helped meteorology and observing water level around China, and such.

Satellite also helped on 'preventing' use of drugs in China: one of the pics. showed 'illegal marijuana' and another one 'illegal poppy field'.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
