It's cheap

People are friendly for the most part, even if most of them just want to use you for one thing or another
My work hours are great
Food is good, at least here in my area

....My dog? (Running out of good things...grasping at straws now)

I get to run red lights and speed past policemen without any consequences

Doing business is easy

Thats about it...

The bad...WAY too many to list..but the bad doesn't outweigh my reasons for wanting to stay here a few more years

Good:

case of Tsingtao (600ml) delivered to my doorstep for around 50rmb.  wink

Bad:

that absolutely VILE noise/action so many of the population insists on making before they expectorate their contaminated phlegm.

I'm all good now. Back from the gym, I ran and did a bit of exercises. Did some house cleaning. I have a cat on my knees, he is very happy to see me, he is purring. He puts his nose on my nose. We are playing "catch my fingers". The wife will be home soon. No Martini, we finished it yesterday. Reading or coding, or nothing, depending on what they show on HBO. AQI pm2.5 levels are around 300, air smells like ozone and car exhaust.

The good have nothing to do with the country. The less good, however... But no, that would be cynicism, I am told.

The good offered by China?  I don't think anything good is offered by China per se... The good that goes with living here happens because we aren't living somewhere else.

Eg; a place where life has to be lived for real.

Life lived in China isn't really real, despite the things that are actually real.

Even DiverDude's example of something good isn't really good.  Qingdao beer is as good as it gets here but it's still piss, whatever the price.

Oh, I'm drunk too.  On Qingdao.

Blocked.  What was it?  I'm guessing a better beer.  A Coopers Sparkling Ale by chance?

Try Taiwan Beer. I was so surprised.

Believe it or not I bought it in a store and it was in the foreign section and had import duties imposed upon it...

What happened to "one china"?

Really!  Well, we know Taiwan isn't China....and now the gov't are saying it isn't China either.  So...who's left out there that thinks it is China??

Oh yeah, about 1.375 billion brainwashed Chinese people.

Har!
