Q: DSL modem driver link?

Can someone post a link to download the driver for a China Telecom ZTE 831 B II or 831 series DSL modem?  Also, what is "driver" as in software, not "car driver" in Chinese?

if you are a customer of china telecom, either bring the modem to an office for repairs, or call them at 10000 and they will fix it free of charge 9or replace it).

And according to Wilkepedia, a "driver" is ;

a device driver or software driver is a compute program allowing higher-level computer programs to interact with a hardware device within the computer.

A device driver simplifies programming by acting as translator between a hardware device and the applications or operating systems that use it. Programmers can write the higher-level application code independently of whatever specific hardware the end-user is using. Physical layers communicate with specific device instances. For example, a serial port needs to handle standard communication protocols such as that are common for all serial port hardware. This would be managed by a serial port logical layer. However, the physical layer needs to communicate with a particular serial port chip. The physical layer addresses these chip-specific variations. Conventionally, OS requests go to the logical layer first. In turn, the logical layer calls upon the physical layer to implement OS requests in terms understandable by the hardware. Conversely, when a hardware device needs to respond to the OS, it uses the physical layer to speak to the logical layer.

The driver has nothing to to with China Telecom...
Chances are that the driver is already in your windows,
The thing is that Windows cannot think..
Go to device manager, pick up the brand and try one by one until it's start working.
That's how I found out dozens of drivers and there was no point of looking for them since they were already in Windows "warehouse"  in the folder C:\Windows/winsxs

try this link

NotGuilty:

You can try also "driver modder" to fine tune driver that was not designed for your hardware.
Google for modder, although their specialty are graphics, but one never knows
