Seeing a lot of this dish in the south...tried it once and it tasted absolutely horrid. Is this just another case of 'it's good for this and this part of your body'?
I would say that it is probably high in iron and protein and so has a fairly good nutritional value. I have eaten the congealed pigs blood a number of times in Sichuan food and while it is not delicious is not bad tasting. With it's high iron content it is probably helpful with anemia.
Whatever nutritional value there is in such a dish, would be more than offset by the possibility of getting very sick. I would suggest you stay away from any local dishes with blood.
But I guess that's just me...not too adventurous with food here myself....already got violently sick here once...and that is enough for me.
In Britian we have black pudding, which is pigs blood, great with bacon and egg
Duck's blood in hot pot in a hot pot is quite nice. And then you can just trick people by telling them it's brown tofu and nobody has a problem... then tell them after they say "oh it's nice"
