HI,
this is my somewhat unique situation...I'm Chinese-Canadian, born in China, raised overseas...I currently have a TESL certificate obtained online, and I have exp teaching IELTS and TEOFL in Chinese to Chinese students here in CA. I'm not sure which one is more in demand in China, but I'm fine doing either really..
So what's the hourly range that I can realistically expect in Beijing? as a part time job...also, should I apply through agencies? put up ads online? how should I go about doing that? if going through agencies is the best way, any recommendations?

Hit the Big International companies in China
Someone with your skills should by all accounts do very well in particular if you have a HR back ground
Search SEEK.com under Asia as they often are looking to fill vacancy's
Good luck
Thank you so much...and also how much hourly should I expect in this case?

If you haven't done so already, you should check the other recent thread with the Korean American girl who wants to go teach English in China. ]
I've spent two years in Beijing and accompanied local friends who studied at several international schools like Wall Street English and English First and I have never seen an East Asian looking foreign full-time teacher. I've only seen one woman who looked Filipino. The only East Asian looking foreigners working there were advisors/recruiters.
I've had a friend who was Australian with Korean origins and she could only find a part-time job at 100rmb an hour.
They are definitely not looking for teachers with skills, qualifications and experience in China's English schools. They only want teachers with the right look.

Thanks Justin
That's one of my main worries..actually it might be my only worry...I know most ESL ads I see here are not looking for the most qualified teachers, but the "right looking" ones...that's why I don't usually have high expectations in terms of hourly, and been looking for an IELTS-ish type of jobs to better utilize my unique skill sets..but I'm not sure how much demand of that is out there..
