Q: Ever notice how Timeout in China is way less informative that Timeouts elsewhere in the world?
In the guide for Paris and other major cities they have these really handy lists of "top 50" restaurants or things to do, and many other lists, area guides and suggestions. I find the Beijing and Shanghai versions disappointing in comparison.

Then China is the land of disappointment
Try reading some of the tourist stuff on the travel web pages from home or hitch hikers guide to China and other travel books
I'd say that would have no problem including such lists in the Beijing and Shanghai versions, but perhaps they feel it would get a tad repetitive. Look at the winners of the That's Shanghai food and drink awards for example: The usual suspects win year after year.
