Q: Ever pull any pranks/stunts in China ?

Just curious...what type of pranks or stunts have you pulled in China. I've seen a few friends get drunk or bored and do some silly stuff simply cause they know the shock value it causes when a foreigner does it. Always harmless stuff of course.

One night a friend of mine was a bit drunk...walked up to one of those CD stands you see on the sidewalk and picked up the mic and started singing the ABC's  at the top of his lungs. Oups

In japan I had a friend go in the middle of a busy intersection during a red light and start dancing like crazy. When the light turned green he just walked away like nothing happened. Surprisingly, in Japan no one seemed to notice or care haha, it was as if it's normal.

In guilin we had one teacher (lets call him "George")  who demanded to be paid on the last calendar day of the month as per the contract. One day late? He would throw a fit!

Anyway, on April 1, 2008 the other foreign teachers and I got together and someone texted us (but not "George") a Chinglish apologetic message that we would be paid at the end of the NEXT month.

We then went to English corner, and when "George" came up and asked how we were, we pretended to be bummed out because of the "message" we had received. Not knowing what we were talking about, we showed him and he threw a fit!!! Quickly, ge pulled out his phone and called our boss. Meanwhile, we are yelling at  him that it was a joke, but he was so angry he did not hear us. Finally, in the middle of his diatribe he finally hears us that it was a joke. Then, as if turning a switch, he is as sweet as can be, tells our boss "never mind, nigh night" and hangs up.

This was also the night that we (Americans) found out that in the countries of the British Commonwealth one dos not play April fools  jjokes after 12 noon.

I know, rather lame for a bunch of middle aged men, but you did ask....

I once waited for my girlfriend (now my wife) to brush her teeth before showing her a photo of the same tooth-brush sticking out of my arse. It was a revenge prank. Bit strong maybe.

drunk in hainan sanya, me and my friend decided to stop a taxi and see how long we couldl talk to the driver about taxi unrelated stuff before he would ask us where we wanted to go, and it worked as usual cos chinese people are willing to talk to others on the street even if its complete nonsense,we long storry short it worked for like almost 10 min until he drove off, and we tried again with several other taxi drivers untill our chinese friend who  is fed up of watching this comes over and starts telling the drivers they are drunk and will just waste your time lol and now we do this everytime we get drunk in sanya with a stop watch like if it was something from banzai

Chinese have no appreciation for pranks and although they love to watch PUNKED on TV they get really pissed if you pull one over on them.  I took some employees to a restaurant where I am friends with the owner and I clued him in ahead of time that I wanted the special "Gong bao Tuzi ding"  (rabbit dish).  When I ordered, I bragged about my Chinese getting better and not one of my employees protested or said a word.  When the food arrived (Gong Pao Ji DIng) tey wer all sniffing and poking at the food, and some began to eat.  Then one remarked, "This tastes almost like chicken!" Most all were hungry and smothered the dish with hot sauce and hesitantly ate up. After that lunch, I was never asked t take them to lunch again - a costly habit that I was trying to break anyway.  Mission accomplished.
