The schools all made up for Thursday and Friday's days off yesterday and today, so naturally as a teacher I (and my coworkers) did too. Beyond the fact that I find that incredibly dumb, I am wondering do other industries in China do the same thing ? Is everyone on a Friday schedule today?

No, actually today was a Tuesday schedule. Yesterday was a Monday schedule. Then we're right back to a Monday schedule again tomorrow, but I don't have to teach because the freshmen have military training.
I did Thursdays class on Saturday, as I don't work friday I have just had 8 days rest. Actually I want to start working because we are up to week six!!Most government places had the seven days off here!
the "make up" thing is gotta be one of the most retarded things the Chinese have come up with in the history of ever. why give people hollidays if your gonna make them work double when they get back? im working in a kindergarten now and yes i had to show up on the weekend and make up clases. KIDERGARTEN!!! they sleep and eat for most of the day!! do they really need t make up for all the naps and fruit snacks they missed during the week? sigh...
Dear China- You're doing it wrong.
It's not just teachers, it's just about every industry you can think of.
I used to think the Chinese were good at math but check this out: The "holiday" is 7 days off according to China. Well, ok. Oct 1st was a Saturday, which most people would have off anyway, same with Sunday. So really, you get 5 days off, but you need to make up 2 of them in a hellish 7 day work week. This means you actually only get 3 days "off".
So in China, 3 means 7 when it comes to days off.
Well this comment was for MrTibbles but the computer would not allow it?
Mathematically correct. Logically insane - agreed!!
