Dear Friends in arms
We have start to arrange our first family trip to my country. Seems we got some "mafan".
Anyway, we already bought the tickets, as is the first think you need before asking visa for my wife, and exit visa for my son. The problem is :
We live in Shanghai, as i work here legaly in a company 2 years now.
Our son was born in Zhejiang provice, But his Nationality is Czech citizen and passport is Czech too.
His mama is from Anhui province.
We have been told before, since our son is born in China and wasn't been out yet, than no need any visa to stay here, just to get exit permit/visa and when back, he will get same Z visa as me have.
Today we went to Entry/Exit bureau in Shanghai and have been told from 2 different person there a bit different answers.
Same is, that we can not get this in Shanghai, because son is not born here, so its mean his hukou is not Shanghainese. One person said that we have to go arrange this in Yiwu, where he have born, but the second document needed is the residence permit, we do not live there. Second person told us, need go to moms hometown, or to Hefei, capitol of Anhui to maintain needed docs.
We are affraid that in Hefei will be a bit difficult, as they do not handle almost any of similar issues. I shanghai they do not know, because they said the rules are different for each province. wtf, why ? Isn't it just "one country, one dream" ?
They suggest us, if anything go wrong we can still shift our son hukou and nationality back to Chinese, Which I am very afraid of and not willing to do this.
We have now 3 month before our flight . Anyone have some friend with similar case handling before or some useful info ? The Embassy told s before, that usually they are not able help us in internal cases, as is differ from province to province, as we see now.
So we are going to her homttown first about next week, but if any info i can get from you , I will be very glad to read about.
Thanks

if he has the czech passport the as soon as you use it he is Czech so you do not need a visa however that will be it for any claim to being a Chinese citizen and he comes under the same rules as you
also there is more info from other users under visa's this has come up before hope this helps
If he has a Czech passport, then why would he have a Chinese "houku"?
Seems to me that with the Czech passport, he is a Czech citizen. Why cant your embassy help, if he is a Czech citizen?
I just read the post from about a year ago sorry I can not paste it on this stupid tablet however you will get some great info there
kk, thanks, i will check it there .

After reeding several ties, I got the poisnt, as he is nnot chinese national and never had apply for permanent or temporary residence, he should be easily allowed to got the "exit card". Just we need to travel to several places to get it. As we live in different place than he was born and from where is his mom.
I hope I am not wrong.
And thanks phil for your research, It took me almost 2hrs to find out the topic.
Seems all work is done, just waiting the card now. but yesterday we have find out, that on the receipt, which we get on the bureau, the confused a lot with our sons name. On the receipt they stated his chinese name in characters and also write his ënglish name"which was the pinyin of the chinese name. But he do not have any chinese or english name. He have Czech name in Czech passport and even in the chinese born certificate is not chinese name. than we called them back to make sure they will make the card correct with his offical name. Reply was " that is our mistake, we have not check it there and that they are not sure if can help us to repair this now. is still not finished, but that they can not call to another department just one floor above them and tell them about this matter . And that they follow chinese rules." Ok, So in case, they will deliver to us the card with "his chinese name"which is no where in the world registered and may caused us problems in the airport. So we have to spend another 1000 kuai for train tickets and 2 days of traveling in order to repair their mistake ? the cost of card is 20 kuai :-(
Yes, you will have to go to her home town and get the certificate saying that your son does not want to keep the Chinese nationality. Then, you can have a visa for exit
Nessquick:
this we done already, he have Czech nationality almost 3 years. the problem is, if they write his chinese name on the exit card, when he is not chinese citizen, no chinese passport, no chinese ID, only his chinese is mother and half of the blood ... :-)
Than I think will be troubles, chinese name is nowhere registered, never used and writen incorectly by the "university degree officials"
GuilinRaf:
Does he have a Czech passport?
I am not doubting you at all, I just find it hard to believe that an embassy wont help one of their citizens, your son, travel to his country of citizenship. I know this happens a lot, in fact, sometimes I feel that our embassies are more interested in keeping the host country happy rather than helping their nationals.
I have been advised that if I ever have a child in China, not to give him/her a Chinese name (at least not an official one) in order to avoid these complications. However, I have also been told that this would be nearly impossible....
Anyway, best of luck!!!
