While it may be expat friendly, it sure isn't friendly on your wallet. The last time I checked how much an appointment to see a doctor was it cost 1200 RMB a pop - ouch if you don't have health insurance. The hospital is located on Jiangtai Lu in the Lido area so is a bit of a trek if you don't live in that area.
Other international hospitals include Am-Care, which is just up the road from United Family and targetting women and children. I've had a friend who gave birth there and she wasn't overly impressed. Her main issue was the fact that there was a complete lack of privacy.
For the more budget-conscious, try Tongren Hospital by Chongwenmen Subway station. While you may need to go with a Chinese friend, the hospital is considered one of the best in Beijing, especially its ENT services. They also do have some bilingual staff but don't count on it for all services.
Then there's also the SOS clinic - the beauty of this one is that it is open 24 hours and they have various language services. They do emergency house calls and offer a full spectrum of services. http://www.internationalsos.com/
