Q: Experience in opening an office in China (Guangzhou)

I am in the process of renting an office space in Guangzhou in order to set up a company here (yes, I realise that it is a very complicated and risky process).

I have been looking at very many different offices here. Just as I thought I found the one I like, the agent started telling me about "fire safety". He mentioned that if I was to put office partitions in the office, I need to get the office space reassessed by the fire department, get a new fire safety certificate and all that general red-tape stuff.

Does anyone know, or have any advice on this "fire safety" issue?

Or does anyone know any other complications that I need to be prepared for when renting an office here?

Thanks in advance!!

if you are not setting up restaurant, plant, it is not your issue. The building itself should pass such fire thing.

not sure Guangzhou, you can rent secretarial address to set up company. later, you can transfer the company to the real address. then it will save  your money .

You may need to pay for "advice " from the fire people if it's anything like the part of china I'm in. Cost  my friend a few thousand dollars for his small office to pass
