Q: Exploring Macau, but staying in Zhuhai?

Was planning on a trip to Macau, but a lot of people have said that the hotel prices in Macau are rather pricey. Would a better option be staying in Zhuhai and then going to Macau? Would it be like staying in Shenzhen and going to HK?

Thanks for the answers in advance!

Actually Debbie if you use elong or one of the agents like that, there are some good bargains to be had in Macau for hotels.  Zhuhai is cheaper, kind of, and then there's the commute in-and-out, easy at times, not easy at others.  Book a "gambler's package" and get good discount and just forgo the gambling or not forgo it.

Macau is so small but it has a lot of going for it.  It's just different enough from Zhuhai to make it all worthwile.

If you go for the stay in Zhuhai solution, you need to be aware you will waste a lot of time going through the border. It can take more than an hour each way, depending on day of week. If you stay in Zhuhai in 7 Days Inn you will stay there cheaper.

Remember your passport will get stamp-raped each time you pass the border, not a solution for those with limited entries.

Once you cross the border you are in downtown Macau. Exploit the free casino busses, you can go most places using those
