Q: FBI background check channelers

Has anyone used a channeler to obtain a background check to get a working visa

Its quicker than getting it directly through the FBI. I called one today and they said that the only difference is the FBI seal is a little lower (to differentiate from ones received by the FBI directly). This was an approved channeler I found on the FBI website so its not a scam.

Anyone had any experience with this post July 1?

I had my FAO in my city call about this, and was told that the paper was not required for renewal of my work license, only for initial applicants. Yay! But I am eight months out from a renewal and they can change their minds at any time.

According to www.lawandborder.com, Qingdao does not require it for renewals either (or Beijing). Kunming however does. So it is not somewhat a hodgepodge of laws and not centralized.

it is best to call the labor bureau and ask them what they need and what is acceptable.

Well I guess can give them FBI if they require it but if they dont ask for it, then I dont see what is wrong with getting it from the local country courthouse.    Less is more.    Also FBI is not good because if someone was every charged with anything even a misdeminor they dont come off the FBI report.   Therefore, the person must show them the FBI and the State report that would show the final dispostion of the charges.    Thats the problem with their stupid requirements many people can have charges for things and not be guilty or convicted of them.    However, they would stay on the FBI and State report unless they return to their home country go to court and pay to have sealed or expunged.   Therefore, if the person has nothing for the last 10 years, its better just to give them the local county report and keep their mouth shut.   Less is more.   if you have never been charged with anything then yes I would suggest give them the FBI but if you do have any charges better not too, unless you are prepared to have to go through the hassle of explaining the difference between charges and convictions, and then they will make you get the court dispostions.    A big headache not worth it.

Is is possible to submit an FBI no criminal clearance from an FBI approved Channeler? Will Chinese immigration authorities accept this??? I 've spent hours upon hours, even days, researching. Can't find any clear answers. My Chinese recruiter keeps saying we need an 'original' document.

The only original you get from the FBI Channelor is in an eletronic pdf file. What rhey send you by mail is a balck and white hard, tamper proof copy (therefore it is not an 'original' color copy. Can someone, please clarify whether this type of document will be accepted in China?

I paid 100 bucks to have the FBI Channler expidite it to me only to find out it is a black and white copy, not original! I do not ant to send this express email to China if it will not be excepted. The school is located in Bejing if that makes any difference.

Thanks you!!

Eric

You answered your own question, yes the copy version won't cut it in China now, too strict these days so you need to go through the hoops to get the real one.
