Q: Feeling... alone in China?

China is such a big countary with so many people, yet sometime I can't halp but feel... alone. I haz a nice girlfriend, caring that does everything i ever wished for. I haz expat friends, and some Chinese friends as well. But people here seem... distant. You see them on a regular basis, we all laugh and everything, yet there's no bonding at all, it seems all superficial.

Am I alone in that situation? Do you people created long, bonding friendship with people here? It's such a different place from my small town in Montana, 'Merica

Not sharing your experience at all...I made some great friends here. In general I think expats in China tend to be a little extreme in their choice of friends. Some don't want to mingle, and only keep a circle of foreigners around them. Those are the people who have 0 interest in China or Chinese culture.

Then you got a lot of expats who make only Chinese friends and who seem to distrust all other foreigners.

Maybe what you're really missing is your mama and your papa, PoutineduFion...

My parents got killed in a car accident, while driving to the airport to come and see me in Beijing. So yes, i miss them.

Don't get me wrong, I made friends here, Chinese and expat. It's just that there is no bonding. No dancing on tables, no spin-o-rama high fives... I love Chinese culture and do my best to get impregnated by it. Some people are respectful, some less. But in general, I find that people are moar distant.

Glad to see you're doing great, smiling fatty kiddo!

Sorry to hear that.

I think it is not about China, it's about urself.

I am Chinese, my family lives here, all my friends are here but still I feel not bonded. Always want to go somewhere, where, I don't even have an idea, not Europe and Africa as I was already there and still feel lonely.
